Vermicelli Upma / Shavige Uppittu
Vermicelli Upma / Shavige Uppittu, a upma recipe, roasted vermicelli cooked in tempering of mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, peanut, garnishing with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.

Ingredients
- 1.25 cup Vermicelli / Shavige Roasted
- 1.25 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Ghee / Clarified Butter
- 2 tbsp Cashew
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tbsp Chana Dal
- 1 tbsp Urad dal
- 2 tbsp Peanut
- 2 strings Curry Leaves
- 2 Green Chilly slits
- 1 Big Onion chopped
- 1 Big Tomato chopped
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/4 cup Green Peas Soaked and cooked
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves chopped
- 1/4 cup Fresh Coconut grated
Instructions
- In a Pan add ghee, cashew, fry for a min, keep aside.
- Now add mustard seeds, as it starts to splutter, add chana dal, urad dal, peanut, saute it till light golden brown.
- Add curry leaves, green chilly, saute.
- Now add onion, cook till translucent, add tomato, saute.
- Add salt, saute.
- Now add soaked and cooked green peas, mix well.
- Add 1.25 cup water.
- Close the lid and bring it to boil.
- Add turmeric powder.
- Lower the flame, add roasted Vermicelli / Shavige.
- Mix well.
- Add grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
- Stir well.
- Close the lid and cook for 2 to 3 mins on medium flame.
- Garnish with ghee fried cashew.
- Vermicelli Upma / Shavige Uppittu is ready to have.
