  • 1 cup Urad Dal
  • 3 tbsp Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 Green Chilly chopped
  • 1 String Curry leaves chopped
  • 1/3 cup Coconut chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp Pepper corns crushed
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • 2 cup Oil for frying


  • Wash and soak urad dal overnight.
  • In a mixing jar add soaked urad dal and 2 to 3 tbsp water.
  • Grind to fine paste.
  • In a vessel add grind urad dal.
  • Beat well, using spoon.
  • Now add salt, finely chopped ginger, chopped green chilly, crushed pepper corns, chopped curry leaves, asafoetida, chopped coconut.
  • Mix well.
  • Heat oil.
  • Wet hands, prepare vadas.
  • Deep oil fry.
  • Cook till golden colour.
  • Uddina Vade / Medu Vada is ready to have.
