Tomato-Vegetable Sambar
Tomato-Vegetable Sambar, toor dal and vegetables cooked in tomato puree and sambar powder.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Toor Dal
- 1 cup Potato roughly chopped
- 1 cup Carrot roughly chopped
- 4 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Ghee / Clarified Butter
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Asafoetida / Hing
- 2 strings Curry Leaves
- 4 Green Chilly slits
- 6-7 cloves Garlic roughly crushed
- 1 big Onion chopped
- 1.5 cup Tomato Puree
- 2 Drumstick
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 tbsp Sambar Powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves chopped
Instructions
- In a pressure cooker add washed toor dal, potato, carrot, water.
- Close the lid, cook for 3-4 whistles.
- In a kadai add ghee, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilly, hing, crushed garlic.
- Saute.
- Add onion, saute.
- Now add drumstick, salt, turmeric powder.
- Mix well, close the lid and cook for 3-4 mins on medium flame.
- Add tomato puree, stir well.
- Close the lid and cook for 4-5 mins on medium flame.
- Add cooked dal mixture.
- Mix.
- Add 2 cups water, stir well.
- Now add sambar powder.
- Mix well, close the lid and cook for 5 mins on medium flame.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Delicious Tomato-Vegetables Sambar is ready to have.
