Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Moong Dal / Hesaru Bele
  • 1 small Tomato chopped
  • 1-2 Green chilly slits
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 string Curry Leaves
  • 2 Dry Red Chilly
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida / Hing
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3.5 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves chopped
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coconut grated

Instructions

  • In a pressure cooker add washed moong dal, tomato, green chilly, turmeric powder.
  • Add 1.5 cup water.
  • Close the lid and cook for 1-2 whistles.
  • Stir cooked dal, keep aside.
  • In a kadai add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, dry red chilly, curry leaves.
  • Saute.
  • Add cooked dal.
  • Stir, add 2 cups water.
  • Mix well, add salt.
  • Bring it to boil.
  • Add chopped coriander leaves, grated coconut, give a stir, cook for 2 more mins.
  • Simple yet delicious Hesaru Bele Tovve / Moong Dal Tovve is ready to have.
