Donne biryani is famous in Bangalore. It is made up of Jeera sambar rice and chicken cooked in coriander-mint-fenugreek leaves paste, thus the colour of the biryani is green.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm Chicken
  • 500 gm Jeera sambar rice
  • 1.5 cup Mint leaves
  • 1 cup Fenugreek leaves
  • 1/2 cup Coriander leaves
  • 3 Onion medium
  • 6 Green chilly
  • 10 cloves Garlic
  • 2 inch Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Lemon
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 2 Bay leaf
  • 1 inch Cinnamon
  • 2 Cardamom
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  • In a pan add oil, garlic, ginger,fry for a min, add green chillies, onion slices, fry for a min, add chopped mint leaves, chopped fenugreek leaves, chopped coriander, fry for 4 to 5 mins, on medium flame. 
  • Add fried green leaves mixture to a blender, grind it to a fine paste.
  • In a pressure cooker add oil, add all dry spices one by one, add finely chopped onion, cook for about 3 mins, now add green leaves paste, curd, mix well, add salt, coriander powder and garam masala powder, add chicken pieces, mix well, add water, soaked jeera rice. bring it to boil. close the lid, pressure cook it for 2 whistles. 
  • Bangalore special Donne Biryani is ready to eat.
